Jordan Danielle (they/them/king)

Birth & Postpartum Doula

I am a birth and postpartum companion located within downtown Salt Lake City. I am originally from New Jersey. My career started in childcare, and eventually expanded because of my deep passion for caring for birthing people and helping them to find resources.  I answered the call to become a birth-worker in 2020 after experiencing the births of my niblings.  I witnessed, first hand, the ways in which the medical system failed my sister-in-law. I saw how she was silenced and ignored during her birthing experiences; and how her safety and birth preferences were not made a priority. My passion lies in serving BIPOC folks with an emphasis on the trans and queer community. I am passionate about postpartum work, as well, because I recognize how little support there is for postpartum parents. This is especially true during the first 40 days after birth, also known as the 4th trimester.

The spirit of my practice is both ancestral and artistic. My grandmother was a doula in the Deep South, and because of that lineage, I hold ancestral knowledge. In my practice, I incorporate my values and experience as an artist, as well. My work honors and uplifts the connection between our bodies and the important practice of authentic movement. I also honor the way sound, writing, and storytelling impacts us mentally, physically, and emotionally. I feel that, through the integration of all of these mediums, a person can truly foster a holistic understanding of themselves, and this can empower their voice in the birth and postpartum space. My hope is that, in this work, I can help parents find alignment, empowerment, and a loving foundation in their birth and postpartum journey.
